Fellowships

Established in 2014 through a generous Southern California Development Forum (SCDF) Charity Award, the AWA Foundation Fellowship Program provides two annual grants for up to $5,000 each, to women in architecture and allied fields. Fellows use these awards to advance a project, research initiative, or other work of professional significance, supporting innovation, leadership, and lasting contributions to the profession.

Fellowship projects may include research, publications, lectures, presentations, exhibitions, or public programs that advance the profession or engage the broader community. Fellows complete their projects within one year and present their work at the AWA+D Annual Symposium.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements (see details HERE):

  • Must be a California resident

  • Must have been practicing in the field of architecture or the allied arts for a minimum of 5 years

The 2027 Fellowship awards cycle will open in late summer of 2026.
